Hyde Park – Baths Remodel

Jay completely renovated our master bath, taking out an unused whirlpool tub and adding a magnificent double shower and moving the washer/dryer from the ground floor to the master bath. Then, in the former laundry room, he added a bathroom, complete with shower. This was a tight space, but he fit in a full (and lovely!) bath. My husband and I had ideas about what we wanted, but no real clue how all the pieces would fit together – and we had a tight timeline and several unforeseen issues.

Jay’s design was magnificent; his ideas about tile, countertops, and paint were superb; and he managed unanticipated issues with mold and a leaky skylight while keeping us on schedule and in reasonably good spirits throughout.

Furthermore, Jay was great about identifying other issues in our home and offering his guidance. The end result was not inexpensive but all pricing was fair and transparent. Jay showed us ways we could have saved more money — and he was also clear on what we’d be sacrificing in terms of quality.

Jay communicated frequently and precisely and as such, we always knew what was ahead.  He realized early on that the best way to reach me quickly was via email/text and my husband via phone and so he adjusted his communications style accordingly.  He also recognized that the construction was all-consuming for our family and went out of his way to have our 9-year old son feel comfortable — he asked him questions and even celebrated his Bday with carrot cake.

Because we were venting the dryer out of the roof, we had waited to have a new roof put on until this project was underway. Jay coordinated directly with the roofer so that the projects overlapped appropriately.  Jay is that rarest of contractors who finished exactly when he said he would.  We had family arriving for Christmas and Jay understood how important this real deadline was for us — and he met it without a day’s delay.

While I hope we are done with renovations for the time being, we would hire Jay again in a minute.  He is reliable, trustworthy, effective, and efficient.  He does very high quality work and the end result is truly magnificent.  We are thrilled and recommend him heartily.
